RHS Garden Wisley Gardener wins Young Horticulturist of the Year Award
The competition is run in three phases: local heats starting in January each year, Regional Finals and the National Final, which was held on 7 May at RHS Garden Harlow Carr. Contestants have to answer questions in buzzer rounds and field questions that are asked to them directly.
"I am absolutely delighted to have won the Young Horticulturist of the Year Award," said Sue. "I was shocked and yet over the moon when they announced my name, as the competition this year has been fierce."
Colin Crosbie, Curator of RHS Garden Wisley, was also delighted that Sue had won. "From everyone here at the RHS we congratulate Sue on winning this amazing award," he said. "She is a real asset to the Society and she deserves all the recognition she gets."
When asked where she is likely to go with her Percy Thrower Travel Bursary Sue said, "Madagascar: the ecosystems out there are second to none and I can't wait to learn more about it."
