Prunus Amanogowa

How invasive are the roots of Prunus Amanogawa? I would like to use a line of three of these trees to screen off a neighbours house flank wall. This tall, narrow growing cherry is ideal for my purpose, but I only have about 4 metres gap between my own house and my garden wall. Will the roots spread and cause damage to my house and/or to my garden wall?

I think it is touch and go whether or not the root spread of Prunus 'Amanagawa' will cause a problem here. As a general rule expect the root spread to be at least as much as the eventual canopy spread. With Prunus 'Amanagawa' the maximum eventual canopy spread is going to be about 4 metres!
Have you considered asking the neighbour if they would allow you to put up a trellis on their wall and grow a climber on it with rather less robust roots than any tree.

I am not sure that trellis will be the answer for two reasons
1 - I am not sure that I could achieve sufficient height for my purposes
2 - There are planning restictions around extending the height of boundaries and this a minefield I want to avoid!

So I shall keep my thinking cap on
