Papaver orientale ‘Allegro’ has orange-red flowers in early summer. Oriental poppies have fern-like light green, hairy leaves. For the optimum number of flower buds it is best to grow oriental poppies in full sun. If Papaver orientale ‘Allegro’ is cut back hard after flowering it will produce new foliage and possibly a second flush of flowers.
